This article is missing a lot of info, so much so, that one can't properly impelement a reader or writer for this file format. To anybody who actually knows the structure of "a.out" files, please provide the following info:
Definitions of the flags found in the a_midmag field of the file header.
Structure of the entries in the Symbol Table.
Structure of the entries in the String Table.
