Theory or Practice

I removed most of the tutorial bits, and appended some theory. This means this version is more educational than instructional. Does someone think the extra code snippets and comments should be put back or be left as an exercise for the reader (A lot of the extra information is about FAT and real mode, as well as a few others, effectively giving doubled content). Renaming this article or updating it

I feel like this article should either be updated (to at least include UEFI or maybe other firmwares), or renamed to BIOS bootloader or something like that, since it assumes BIOS (which is obsolete) and gives people a wrong idea about things; namely, I've seen people in discussions refer to this article specifically and still deciding to start with writing a BIOS bootloader, with the intent of targeting "modern" (made since 2012, or earlier) PCs. --Mishakov (talk) 22:16, 22 September 2026 (UTC)

I agree, a renaming or a large update (started in someones user namespace perhaps) to include UEFI would be in order. I might start work on revisions that do so sooner or later. --Anotheridiot (talk) 16:03, 23 September 2026 (UTC)
