Talk:Memory Map (x86)
Is it actually safe to assume that 0x100000-0xC0000000(other than the 15-16mb gap) is all free for use? shouldn't this be made sure of by a proper BIOS function or manual probing?--Earlz 03:24, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Why does it talk about GRUB and bootloader modules if it's supposed to talk about the memory right after BIOS jumped to the bootloader code, it's confusing and misdirecting. There should be a section maybe that talks about people using GRUB and add warnings abot places they shouldn't touch, but the main article is supposed to be for people creating their own bootloader.
"There was a typo in the memory table under 1mb. Instead of 0x00007FFF it was 0x0007FFFF" Revert
Bl4ze4447, I approved the change but immediately reverted it as it's not spam but also it's incorrect -- The memory map in real mode goes from 0x00000 to 0xFFFFF (20 bits), your change of 0x7FFF is only 32k into memory.
