New page on the same subject
I pulled this out if a recently new-made triplefault page (which is now a redirect):
- When the exception handler of a double fault causes yet another exception (or your IDT is messed up, or ...) the CPU resets - this is called a triple fault.
- Not so nice to debug on hardware - if I remember correctly Bochs dumps some debugging output in case of a triple fault.
- Oh, and it's the most sexy way to drop out of protected mode.
Of its own this isn't quite useful for the reader, but if elaborated a bit further it might help improve this article. Any takers? - Combuster 10:51, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
