Erm... what's the point of this article, really? We have FPU as well as SSE, and I would label knowledge about IEEE-754 as Required Knowledge...? -- Solar 09:17, 23 February 2012 (CST)
The point is that it provides platform independent information on the subject. It is more a techincal resoruce than an implementation. It also provides a base page for the floats template --Bellezzasolo 07:11, 27 February 2012 (CST)
Floating point is OKAY to use in kernel
I don't know why people say it is not okay to use floating point in kernel, it is totally fine as long as you setup the floating point units correctly; article should make it succintly clear -Wxwisiasdf 17:56, 21 October 2022 (CDT)
