Talk:OSFAQ Foreword
Merge and deletion
Most of the contents contained here is also present in Getting Started, be it that this page is far more aggressive on what the readers are to know. For that there are a few points to discuss:
- Should we need to spice up Getting Started to some extent as it is very mild opposed to the original edition of the requirements page (this one)? I think that we should make sure that the requirements listed are minimal, rather than just recommended.
- Should we add some requirement about knowledge regarding the toolchain? (IMO that is a must if you use something other than GCC / binutils / assembler)
- Any objections for deleting this article (after reaching consensus on the previous items)

I think that's a good idea (TM). Spicing up Getting Started in some sections would certainly not be objectionable, especially the areas about required knowledge. That list for required knowledge (on the GS page) also needs to be extended a lot. IMHO, Linux and UNIX experience could be seperated as well. One of those items should definitely be knowledge about toolsets/utilities. I say go for it. Yayyak 17:59, 17 September 2007 (CDT)
As the original author, I have no objections to a merge / deletion. It was a "spice up" to Getting Started because of the high numbers of kids "oh yeee, /me going to write own op sys" in the forum back on MT. If some of that "spice" makes it into Getting Started, the objective has been reached. Solar 04:10, 20 September 2007 (CDT)
I've thrown a few spices into the mix, your thoughts? - Combuster 07:25, 20 September 2007 (CDT)
