My Name is Bernhard Treutwein and I am around with computers since the late 1970ies. I started programming with around 1974 on a TR-440. This was a german host computer running a german dialogue-oriented operating system, which went a radically different way than the other OS which had its roots at a similar time: *ix i.e. Unix, Irix, Aix, etc. From there I came the long way via several CDC host systems over to PDP11s under RT11 and then further down to PCs (MSDos, DRDos) and then up again to Unix workstations (Sparc Solaris), and finally via OS/2 to Linux. I'm switching freely between Windows (mainly XP, but sometimes also 9x), Linux (mainly Debian/Ubuntu, but sometimes also Suse), and Native Oberon (sometimes experimenting with BlueBottle/Aos).

Having learned Algol-60 as my first programming language, I was sticky in the sense that I am still in the Algol-branch of the programming-language tree, i.e. my favorite languages are currently Component Pascal [1] and Oberon-2 [2].
